Most Professional Training in North Carolina
WNC Aviation is the only choice for flight training! Let me explain my experience.
I started my training at a neighboring small airport in Hendersonville. There was never anyone at the "flight school office" and when I did finally reach someone, getting on his schedule was impossible. Not because he has a lot of students, but because they don’t really do flight training. I would call it - self directed or teach yourself flight training. I do not believe that it is very safe to be in charge of your own flight training - that is what I expect to pay a flight instructor to do. So I went to Asheville. WNC Aviation has about 6 or so full time flight instructors and at least that many airplanes. They are easily identifiable because they wear professional uniforms, instead of t-shirts and cut-off blue jeans. I also inquired about flight training with the helicopter place; I think it is Falcon Link or Air Falcon, or something like that. They only have one airplane and the student is required to buy their own insurance because Falcon (what ever) doesn’t have any. I thought that was scary. The folks in Hendersonville do the same – they call it “self-insuring”. WNC Aviation has insurance for students and renters, and they pay for it so I don’t have to.
I don’t know much about FAA 141 vs. 61, but I do know that there must be a reason that the FAA has not certified any other flight school around here. When I took my check-ride, I had an FAA inspector ride along with us. She told me that WNC Aviation is the top flight school in NC, and that the FAA doesn’t consider the other groups as real flight schools. I thought that was pretty interesting.
Don’t waist your time and money anywhere else. Go to WNC Aviation.
