| Review: | Children lead by children This is a very unprofessional organisation. I came to DCA with nearly 100 hrs of prior flight training and a bachelors in managment and could not belive the poor quality given that this is a profit based buisiness. Instructors are loud and obnoxious. Yelling and lauging with one another as if they were at a bar while students are trying to work. There is a video game system in the lounge where they can be herd yelling and heckling the game through the wall over others talking in the building. All the while there arent instructors available to help students or answer questions. Managment is no better. The :good old boy" system described earlier is exactly right. These people do not aprriciate professionalism. If ou have an issue that you feel needs to be adressed you would do better to handle it yourself as you will be spoken down to with a desrespectful tone. Instructors berate students as loudly as possible in front of their peers. Professional and mature students are quickly labeled as complainers and are treated as problem people. Apparently expecting a standard level of quality for a $60,000 private rating is a problem for DCA. You will be punished for not "backseating" oral exams and student events (basically you show up and watch) when the reality is that their own policy makes it impossible for you to do the assigned work. You will be schedualed for flights in very close succession as such that you will be unable to get more than 4 hours of sleep in between piloting aircraft. The policy does not allow you to cancel because of fatigue nor does it allow you to pilot a plane when you are asleep. Your options are to fly and hope for the best or take a "no show" which is devostating to your record. I am in the process of changing schools because I will not waste further time and money for these cowboys with highschool educations to hold me back in order to boost their paycheck and make the student feel inferior. | Review: | Worst FBO This FBO is so over-rated. First of all they do not care about their customers/students career or morale. Their scheduling is very inefficient, you never know if you are going to fly until the evening before, which is very inconvenient. They hold what they call "stage checks" which they use as a way to hold you back, demoralize you by calling you "unsat", charge you more money to do things that are not even required, and for instructors to gain more hours at your expense. This school has destroyed so many student's dream and aspirations to become a pilot. It makes you not want to fly when it should be enjoyable. These instructors are not well paid, so they are very unhappy people, who do this mostly to gain flight hours; therefore they do not care about you. Management lacks leadership and are very unprofessional. They have a 'good old boy system'; I witnessed this as I back seated a stage check oral exam. If you are the outspoken type you will not fit in here, as a matter of fact, you will be X'd. I would not recommend this FBO to a friend. One can get the same training for a lot less money and in a better environment anywhere in U.S. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Save your TIME and MONEY If you are someone who has all the time and money in the world then this school is for you. However, if you are like me and understands that seniority is everything in this industry and being in school for over a year and a half to two years to get all your ratings is rediculous then this school is not for you. It took me 8 months and $40,000 to get my private and my instrument ratings. Not to mention 9 different flight instructors during my private training. Not because i was failing or not doing my part but because the instructors and courses milk the student. After my instrument rating i left and went somewhere else where i attained my Commercial, Multi-engine, CFI-II in THREE MONTHS. Friends i started with in May 2007 still do not have thier commercial ratings. Most lessons are impossible to get done in one flight therefore since it is 141 you must make two flight out of one lesson. Therefore double your projected cost. The chief pilots and check pilots think their top guns and make you feel like your a horrible pilot when they conduct stage checks and end of course reviews. This kills your drive to be a pilot. And dont think about complaining because once your name is known as a complainer youll start to see reprocussions. They say being owned by an airline means everything. Go on the internet and look at regional and major airline applications. All they ask for is ratings and hours. Ive never had to put more than my highschool and college down on an application so DO NOT be mislead by the idea that if they see Delta Connection on your resume' that you will have more of a chance at getting the job than Joe Smoe. Do yourself a favor and go to a real flight school that will get you what you want, dont just be a number. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | DCA is overrated! I started school at Jacksonville University and DCA in 2004 thinking that I would be getting the best training possible. It didn't happen. I absolutely loved JU and the ground courses taught there were outstanding but when it came to the flight portion of the training, DCA fell way short. The equipment was old and they completely took the fun out of flying. The person that runs the show out there has no business running a flight school. He has no management abilities and blames everyone else for the school's shortcomings. Right now, a lot of the students do not even have instructors because they are so short staffed. If I had it to do over again, I would still attend JU but definately get my ratings somewhere other than DCA. Comments [ 0 ] |
