Review: What shall I say...??
I started at this school as it was in the same area. It looked good at that time. It took me a while to get my instrument rating, however, I didn't spend extra money. PROS: Relaxed environment. You can take your time to finish the training. Good Piper Arrow- the only good thing is they have a good piper arrow. CONS: Fuel Surcharge(used to be a no fuel surcharge school) Aircraft maintenance(aircrafts are flyable but scary at the same time-usually the aircrafts are down due to old age and good mechanical work done on it- you might find duck tape on some aircrafts body frame) Unprofessional Staff- The company is run by a family. The owner Mr. Alber is un-professional and doesn't know how to talk to students. The dispatcher is always trying to find a reason to waste time. Susan is the only intelligent person it seems. She is the admission officer and handles immigrations and visa. She is a nice lady. Rates high for the aircrafts- the rate is a bit higher than expected. Too much in some cases for the quality and equipment in the aircraft. Senecca is 290 plus fuel surcharge plus instructor(dual flight) 152 is 100 with fuel surcharge included. (one can get better aircrafts at air america for 30-40% less) Instructors charge for everything-they will charge you a minimum no matter what even if you did not used that much time for ground or they was no de-briefing. YOu get charged for getting your log book signed at times and endorsed by the school if you are done with your training. They wouldn't pay back your money. Policy states they would refund your money asap if you leave the school. That is not the case. They will take for ever to give your money back or u might just not get it at all. Instruction- when i did my training, instructors were good. all of them have pretty much left the school to join other schools. They might be conflicting instructions sometime. Also, some instructor over emphasize on things that is not that bigger deal. What are requirements to be current on a glider?etc? However, the school is a family run business. It is a business everyone wants to make money out of anything they could. It used to be good and nice. Instructor's used to try to save your money and teach you the right thing and get your training done. However, that is not the case anymore. If you decide to join this school. Be ready to deal with many problems.
